Eligibility requirements

• A student from the world over with non-Japanese nationality who is self-supporting and residing in Japan.
• A student currently is enrolled in a Japanese university as an undergraduate or a graduate student, and an undergraduate student is up to age 26 on April 1, 2012 and a graduate student is up to age 28 on April 1, 2012.
• A student who needs financial aid to keep studying in Japan and does not receive any sort of other scholarship .
• A student who is of good enough health to pursuit studies in Japan, of excellent academic record, of good personality
• A student who has good communication skill in Japanese.
• A student who has the strong will to contribute international understanding and mutual friendship
• A student who is able to attend Scholarship Students Activities held by NISF (scheduled to be held twice a year).
• A student who does not receive any sort of scholarship or subsidy for researcher from the other third parties while receiving the scholarship from NISF (Please note that the student who simultaneously possesses scholarships is disqualified for the NISF scholarship recipient.)
• A student who works part-time job in Japan for his/her financial reason to keep studying in Japanese university
• A student who willing to participate NISF alumni activities as alumnus, even if his/her NISF scholarship is expired.

Eligible Academic Year

• Undergraduates: Regular students currently enrolled in their third or fourth academic year as of April, 2012.
• Graduates: Regular students currently enrolled in the first or second academic year of a master course as of April, 2012.
• Undergraduate applicant must be 26 years of age or younger (as of April 1, 2012)
• and Graduate applicant must be 28 years of age or younger ( as of April 1, 2012)
• and, as a basic rule, be currently enrolled within the minimum required years of study (i.e. he/she should not repeated a year in Japanese university).

Honjo International Scholarship Foundation Requirements for foreign students applying for scholarships in 2012.

Eligibility:

1. The student is registered to attend a graduate school in Japan and does not possess Japanese citizenship. His or her academic achievement as well as moral character is exemplary. He or she must be considered to be in need of financial aid due to extenuating financial circumstances.
2. The student must be registered to attend or have been accepted to attend a graduate school after April 1, 2012. He or she must be able to provide any of the following documentation: a certificate of enrollment, letter of admission or a letter attesting to the fact that the student has been accepted.
3. To be eligible, students enrolled in a PhD Program must have been born after March 31, 1976. Those enrolled in a Master’s Program must have been born after March 31, 1981. 4. The student must be able to assure the committee that he or she will be able to secure employment in his or her home country after graduating from a graduate school.
5. The student must have a deep understanding of international friendship and goodwill, and be committed to make his or her contribution.
6. The student must be able to carry an everyday conversation in Japanese. Interviews will be conducted in Japanese

IDRC’s Climate Change and Water Program (CCW) helps developing-country researchers understand how climate change affects water resources and find ways to improve the ability of citizens and governments to adapt to the changing environment.

CCW’s Adaptation H2O Graduate Research Awards aim to build research capacity by providing funding to graduate students working on subjects related to climate change and water.

NUMBER, VALUE, AND DURATION OF AWARDS

We offer two types of awards:

1) For developing-country graduate students: A maximum of seven awards, each with a maximum value of CA$15,000, are available in 2011-2012. The award covers field work expenses for graduate students who are citizens of a developing country and who are enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program at a Canadian or developing-country university.

2) For Canadian doctoral students: Up to two awards, each worth a maximum of CA$15,000, are also available to cover field work expenses of Canadian citizens (or permanent residents of Canada) enrolled in a doctoral program at a Canadian university.

These awards cover the field work period, which must be 3 to 12 months in duration. The awards are meant to cover research expenses only and not university tuition or affiliated fees.

Eligibility

To be eligible for an award, applicants must meet the following criteria, in addition to any other conditions set out in this call for proposals:

• Applications will ONLY be accepted in English or French.
• APPLICANTS FROM DEVELOPING COUNTRIES: must be citizens of a developing country and be enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program at a Canadian or developing-country university.
• CANADIAN APPLICANTS: must be Canadian citizens (or permanent residents of Canada) and be enrolled in a doctoral program at a Canadian university). Canadian master’s students are not eligible.
• The proposed field work must take place in a developing country and start no later than December 31, 2012. The applicant’s research supervisor must provide training and supervision in the field for the duration of the award period.
• Applicants must have completed all the required course work for their program of study before receiving the award. An exception will be granted where a university requires one or two courses to be completd after the field research.
• All doctoral applicants must have successfully passed comprehensive written and oral examinations for the academic program in which they are enrolled before receiving the award.
• All applicants must be affiliated with one reputable non-academic institution (national/international organization, institute, or NGO) in the developing country in which the proposed research will take place. This will provide the participant with better access to scientific knowledge and networking possibilities, and increase the likelihood that the supported research will contribute to useful local interventions.

• The application must include all the required documents listed in the Application checklist below.

All completed applications, including attachments, MUST BE RECEIVED by email or mail prior to Thursday, September 1, 2011. Electronic documents must be sent by midnight (Ottawa time). Qualifications:

• Self-supporting international students from countries specified by the foundation (see below for the list of specified countries), who are/ will be enrolled in the regular course. (With a “College Student” visa)

The World Bank annually awards five scholarships to the PPT program. The first level of screening of candidates will be done at Yokohama National University. The final decision regarding scholarship recipients will be made by the World Bank.

The scholarship covers a monthly allowance of JPY170,000 (the amount is subject to change), and a round-trip air ticket to Japan plus a travel allowance of JPY60,000. The monthly stipend is intended to cover living, commuting and other incidental expenses during the student’s study period. The next scholarship program runs from April 2012 to March 2014. This cannot be changed under any circumstances. In addition, the scholarship covers tuition, entrance examination and admission fees. Travel expenses for some program-sponsored field trips are also included.

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants should:

• be between the age of 25 and 45;
• be nationals of a World Bank borrowing member country;
• be mid-career professionals in public service;
• be of good character, a team player and active in extracurricular activities;
• hold, at minimum, a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in a development-related field; and
• have at least four years of recent full-time professional experience in a field related to economic development or public policy, in the applicant’s home country or in another developing country

The following applicants are NOT eligible:

• those currently pursuing a Master’s or PHD program in industrialized countries;
• those who have had one or more years of training/studies and/or residency in an industrialized country;
• permanent residents/nationals of industrialized countries;
• Executive Directors, their Alternates, and staff of the World Bank Group (the World Bank, International Finance Corporation (IFC), Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) and International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) including consultants, as well as their close relatives.)

Priority consideration will be given to applicants who:

• are 35 years old or younger,
• are currently holding an official position in the field of tax administration,
• can receive an official leave of absence during the period of study,
• are planning to return to the equivalent position (including the current one) in their home country after s/he completes the program,
• are recommended by appropriate government agencies,
• submitted GRE scores.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for a 2011/2012 ISH/UAL Graduate Scholarship, applicants must be:

AND

• Be an undergraduate student expecting to graduate with a good bachelors degree (with Honours) from a Higher Education institution by 31 July 2011

The Norwegian Quota Scheme is a funding scheme offered by the Norwegian Government to students from developing countries, Central and Eastern Europe, and Central Asia for studies at institutions of higher education in Norway.

Applicants from countries in Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia and developing countries are eligible to apply for Quota funding. Applicants who live in another country than their country of citizenship, either temporarily or permanently, can not apply.

Institutional Cooperation

Applicants from institutions with which the University of Oslo has a formal cooperation agreement are eligible to apply. Preference is given to applicants who are linked to active and ongoing formalized cooperation/projects within the specific subject area.

Study programmes

Quota applicants may apply for selected Master’s degree programmes and PhD programmes. Applicants studying Scandinavian studies in their home countries may also apply for a one-year advanced Norwegian language programme.

Quota funding

Quota funding covers student housing and basic living expences for one person during the study period. The funding is given as part loan/part grant by the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund. After completing the programme and returning to the student’s home country, the loan part is converted to a scholarship. If residence is taken in Norway within ten years after termination of studies, the scholarship is converted back to a loan and must be repaid.

Admission requirements

• Formal admission requirements for Master’s degree programmes
• As admission is extremely competative, applicants should have excellent academic records (minimum B+/Upper second/GPA 3.3/4)
• Linkage to an institution with a formal cooperation agreement with the University of Oslo
• Comply with the rules and regulations set by the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund
