Eligibility rules

• Applicants must have the nationality of the Asian Countries targeted (Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, The Philippines, Vietnam).
• Applicants must not have resided nor have carried out their main activity (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in one of the European countries at the moment of the submission of the application.
• Applicants must not have already benefited from a scholarship for the same type of mobility under another project under the EMA2-STRAND1.
• Applicants need to comply with the Target group requirements,
• Applicants must have sufficient knowledge of the language of the courses/activities at the host university.

International Postgraduate Research Scholarship

Awards are available for a period of 2 years for a master level research degree and 3 years for doctoral research degrees. USC funded IPRS equivalent scholarships may also be awarded to meritorious candidates both during the annual scholarship round and outside the annual scholarship round at the discretion of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research).

The Nippon Foundation Fellowships for Asian Public Intellectuals (API Fellowships Program) is designed to stimulate the creation of a pool of such intellectuals in the region. They aim to promote mutual learning among Asian public intellectuals and to contribute to the growth of public spaces in which effective responses to regional needs can be generated.

General eligibility for both the API Senior and API Fellowships

• Applicants must hold the nationality or proper residence status of one of the five Participating Countries and reside in the country (Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand) at the time of the application;
• Applicants must attend the interview at the designated date and place;
• Applicants must propose research projects and/or professional activities which start after July 1, 2012 and should be completed on or by the end of July 2013;
• Applicants must have a basic knowledge of English. An ability to speak a language/s of the country/ies where the proposed research project and/or professional activities are conducted will be an asset; and
• Applicants must be based in the region/country and will continue to be so in the future.
• When selected, they must attend the orientation in February/March 2012. Absence from the orientation may cause the cancellation of the selection.

Eligibility for the API Senior Fellowships

In addition to the general eligibility above, the applicants for the API Senior Fellowships must:

• Be under the age of 40 as of August 31, 2011 (exceptions may be made);

New Zealand Development Scholarships (NZDS) provide the opportunity for individuals from targeted developing countries to undertake studies at tertiary education institutions in New Zealand. The purpose of the scholarships is for candidates to gain knowledge and skills in specific subject areas that will assist in the development of their home country by contributing to identified human resource development (HRD) training needs. Awardees are required to return to their home country for at least two years after the completion of their scholarship to apply these new skills and knowledge in government, civil society or private business organisations.

The New Zealand Development Scholarships scheme is funded by the New Zealand Government’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) programme. The New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT), delivers the scheme through the New Zealand Aid Programme.

• not have completed, or nearly completed, a qualification at a similar level (i.e. applicants must apply for a higher level qualification than any previously attained), unless strong developmental relevance is demonstrated
• satisfy the admission requirements of the New Zealand education institution at which the qualification is to be undertaken, including English language criteria
• have been working in their home country, preferably for at least two years prior to application, including since completing their highest tertiary qualification gained to date
• be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to the public or private or community sector (as relevant) of their home country, and to their country’s development in general
• be able to take up the scholarship in the academic year for which it is offered.

A developed country is defined as a country not included on the OECD’s Development Assistance Committee’s [external link] list of aid recipients.

Students will not be funded to continue a qualification they have commenced outside their home country. The funding of qualifications being studied in the home country by self-sponsored, part-time students will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Applicants cannot:

• be studying full-time at post-secondary level
• be transferring from another tertiary scholarship (either in New Zealand or in another country) to a New Zealand Development Scholarship
• hold, or have held, a New Zealand Government or Australian Government scholarship in the 24 months preceding the scholarship start date or have been terminated from a New Zealand or Australian Government scholarship previously.

Applicants are expected to continue residing in their home country during the Scholarship application and selection process. If offered a Scholarship, candidates must:

• be able to satisfy Immigration New Zealand requirements for international student entry to New Zealand (i.e. medical checks and police clearances/character checks, etc)
• not hold another scholarship during the period of the New Zealand Development Scholarship
• agree in writing that they will return to their home country for a minimum period of two years following completion of their scholarship in order to contribute to their country’s social or economic development.

ASEAN Millennium Leaders College Student Exchange Program 2011

The ASEAN University Network (AUN) in collaboration with Daejeon University (DJU) and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Korea are now ready to launch the ASEAN Millennium Leaders College Student Exchange Program between the Republic of Korea and ASEAN Nations 2011

Scholarship Information:
Full Scholarships covering tuition fee, room and board, roundtrip ticket, and living allowance, will be offered to 30 students from ASEAN Nations who interested to study in the fields of Social Science and ICT at Daejeon University for the year 2011-2012. The program is developed for international exchange students and classes will be taught in English.

Admission Requirement:

• Applicant must be a citizen of ASEAN nations and currently enrolled in College or University.
• Undergraduate students majoring in Information Technology (e.g. Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Electrics Engineering, Communications Engineering or IT related major) or,

Project Title:

Visualising China: a study in international cultural politics Project

Description:

With China’s leaders calling for ‘innovations to enhance the international competitiveness and influence of Chinese culture’, and the US voicing fears of losing a global information war, a competition between China and the West for economic and political authority is starting to emerge, finding expression in a contest for cultural representation.

This research initiative will aim to work within the frame of debates on Western representations of China and on China’s efforts to counter misconceptions of the negative impact of its rise, analysing these new cultural contestations in the context of the changing global power dynamics. From a broad overview of Western and Chinese cultural representations of China, as it has emerged from subordination after 1949 to rise as an international power in the world today, the research will focus especially on such representations in Western and Chinese film/TV output since the 1990s. Highlighting particular case studies, the work will explore continuities/discontinuities in Orientalist reassertion and Chinese responses.

Applicants should have, or expect to receive a qualification equivalent to a high class UK honours degree. A high proficiency in English Language is required for this project at IELTS 7.0 or equivalent.

Scholarships are offered to international students of outstanding ability from outside the European Union. Edinburgh Global Undergraduate Mathematics Scholarships. A number of scholarships are offered to Mathematics students of outstanding ability from countries outside the European Union.

The scholarships are worth £1,000 per year and tenable for the duration of the programme of study, subject to satisfactory progress. Scholarship cheques are handed to the winners at an award ceremony at the beginning of the academic session.

Eligibility

This scholarship is competitive and based on academic merit.
It is awarded to applicants from countries outside the European Union who are accepted for full-time admission to an undergraduate Mathematics degree programme at the University.
