Final submission of the full documents is made through the assigned supervisor. All necessary documents must be sent to the supervisor.

• For MEXT scholarship applicants who pass the preliminary screening, all of the documents listed below should arrive at the Student Affairs Office of the Graduate School of Bioresource and Bioenvironmental Sciences no later than February 20, 2012.
• For non-MEXT scholarship applicants, the same set of documents should arrive at the Student Affairs Office of the Graduate School of Bioresource and Bioenvironmental Sciences no later than March 31, 2012.

Selection Procedure for MEXT scholarship Applicants:

• Kyushu University will select applicants based on their application documents and qualifications.
• Based on the recommendations made by Kyushu University, MEXT will then screen and authorize the admission of applicants.
• Applicants will be notified of the results by the middle of July 2012. Successful applicants will be enrolled as full-time graduate students.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) – Japan Scholarship Program (JSP) was established in April 1988 with financing from the Government of Japan.

It aims to provide an opportunity for well-qualified citizens of ADB’s developing member countries to pursue postgraduate studies in economics, management, science and technology, and other development-related fields at participating academic institutions in the Asian and Pacific Region.

Upon completion of their study programs, scholars are expected to contribute to the economic and social development of their home countries.

The ADB-JSP enrolls about 300 students annually in 27 academic institutions located in 10 countries within the Region.

The ADB-JSP provides full scholarships for one to two years.

Scholarship Applying

ADB Scholarship

• No separate application to ADB is necessary.
• The duly accomplished information sheet together with all copies of academic records should be sent to the institution at least six (6) months before the commencement of the intake that you wish to join.
• Only candidates who have been offered admission and endorsed by the academic institutions will be considered for the scholarships by the ADB.
• The ADB-JSP does not cover: expenses for the scholar’s family; extra-curricular courses or training; additional travel during the course of the study program; additional expenses related to supplementary educational materials, field trips, or participation in workshops, seminars, or internships while at the academic institution or purchase of educational equipment such as computers.
• Completion of the information sheet or admission by the academic institution does not mean that you have been accepted for a scholarship; accordingly you should not take any action with respect to your current employment or otherwise, until you have been informed by the institution that you have been awarded a scholarship.

The Asian Development Bank – Japan Scholarship Program

The Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) was established in April 1988 with financing from the Government of Japan. The objective of the program is to provide an opportunity for well qualified citizens of the Bank’s Developing Member Countries (DMCs) to undertake postgraduate studies which will assist the economic and social development of their countries.

Who is eligible?

Citizens of developing member countries of the Bank (see list and selection criteria below) who have a minimum of two years’ working experience and who are eligible for admission to the following degree programs at the University of Sydney:

• Master of Economics
• Master of Commerce
• Master of International Business
• Master of Transport Management
• Master of International Public Health
• Master of Engineering

Please note, applicants living or working outside their home country are not eligible for this scholarship. Also, no applicant will be allowed to apply for the ADB-JSP scholarship more than two times.

International Graduate Program for Advanced Science (IGPAS) is an interdisciplinary graduate program in the Graduate School of Science, Tohoku University.

It was established in October 2004 as the first international graduate program founded in Japanese national universities. IGPAS offers courses in English for international students who are eager to obtain master’s and doctoral degrees from the Graduate School of Science. It is also aims to educate Japanese students to exert their abilities as internationally-active, professional scientists.

IGPAS has proudly reserved positions of Japanese government scholarship for its master’s students since its foundation, and in 2008, IGPAS-Super Doctoral Course (SDC) has been started for doctoral students jointly with the Institute for the International Advanced Research and Education (IIARE) of Tohoku University. Students of IGPAS-SDC benefit from fellowship by IIARE to promote world top-level, interdisciplinary research at the Graduate School of Science.

Prospective students will have excellent opportunities to study modern science and conduct cutting-edge research with top-level scientists currently working at Tohoku University.

IGPAS is a 5-year graduate program as the combination of a 2-year master’s program and a 3-year doctoral program. In the interdisciplinary program, students are affiliated to one of six departments in three groups based on the GCOE programs: (i) Chemistry, (ii) Mathematics, Astronomy, and Physics, and (iii) Earth Science and Geophysics.

The academic year of IGPAS starts in October. The Graduate School of Science will admit at most 20 students each for the master’s and doctoral programs for IGPAS 2009.

This program will begin in October 2007 as a programme of the cross-section between five departments of the Institute of Environmental Studies, Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, The University of Tokyo, also supported by cross for Global Sustainability Initiative (TIGS), the University of Tokyo and Integrated Research System for Sustainability Science (IR3S).

This program will provide students with basic knowledge and concepts needed to build a sustainable society and includes a unique curriculum that focuses on exercises that will enable them to master a variety of skills.

Students from different cultural backgrounds and specialisations think seriously about the issues relating to sustainability through exercises and projects and to acquire practical knowledge and skills intellectually stimulating one another. Admissions Essentially, there are two ways for admission to the Master `s Science Program in Sustainability (MPSS):

1. an international admission for international applicants (those without Japanese nationality) through a screening of application materials so that students from abroad may participate
2. an entrance examination held in August in Kashiwa Japan

Eligibility

All of the following items must be satisfied;

1. Applicants for MPSS must hold a degree from an accredited institution comparable to the bachelor degree offered at the University of Tokyo, or are expected to obtain such a degree by March 31, 2008.
2. Those who do not hold a Japanese nationality, and currently do not live in Japan.
3. In good health
4. Applicants must not have been expelled from Japan in the past.
5. Applicants should agree to enter the program principally between April 1st and 7th, 2008, when accepted.
6. Applicants must not be awardees of scholarship sponsored by other facilities, such as Japanese Goverment, a private cooperation or your own government, etc.
7. Applicants are not allowed to apply for 2008 MPSS with other scholarship nor any other 2008 master’s programs at Graduate School of Frontier Sciences.

Master’s Program in Sustainability Science (MPSS) with the University’s President Scholarship For 2008 April Enrollment

This scholarship program is offered to the following students, who are still in home country before departure to Japan:

1. Countries
Mongolia, China, Korea, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan or one of ASEAN countries.

2. Fields
Natural Science or Engineering except medical, dental and veterinary.

3. Level of study and period of scholarship grant

Master’s degree-2 years, under 30 years of age on April 1 of application year.
Doctor’s degree-3 years, under 35 years of age on April 1 of application year.
Non degree students are not eligible.

4. University in Japan
Applicants are required to be admitted by one of the following universities and receive recommendation from the university to our foundation.

5. Scholarship grant

(1) Stipend: 150,000 yen per month
(2) Matriculation fee, tuition fee: max.2,500,000 yen.
(3) Housing allowance: at large city, max. 40,000 yen per month. other city, max. 20,000 yen per month.
(4)Family allowance: if spouse lives together in Japan and he/she has no source of income: 20,000 yen per month.
(5)Travel expense: A round-trip air ticket, economy class.

6. Application

All application shall require recommendation from the university mentioned above and shall be accepted through the university in Japan. Applicants are required to start preparation at least one year prior to his/her departure from home country to Japan.

7. Number of scholarship winners

7 students per year.
(7 universities mentioned above shall recommend 1 student each every year.)
